DJ X-Cell
DJ X-Cell has been DJing since around 1989. If you count the times he would DJ for $25.00 and with two cassette players then it would be more like 1986 or so. He started, like most other DJ's, on cheap turntables (Technics SL-BD22's). After about a year of learning and out growing his cheap tables he moved on to the "industry standard", (Technics sl-1200's). He started mixing in local schools, houses, house basements, weddings, Quinceaneras, and garage parties all through his high school years and beyond. He quickly became a favorite in his little hometown and surrounding areas of Colusa. His favorite types of parties were with the Chico fraternities & sororities in 1993-2001. He tried to get into the Chico Club scene while he lived there in 1997-1999 but was never accepted because of his different taste in music (house).He's spun at many if not all of the events for the sorority, UKD. When he finally was moving from Chico, the UKD sorority put on an event called "Mesmerized" at the local hot spot, "The Brick Works", and had over 500 college students jamin' to his sounds. The Manager of the club couldn't believe it and asked him for residency. X-Cell had to turn it down due to the long travel he would encounter in the commute and small pay offered. Not to mention all the times he brought her demos and turned him down before actually seeing him in action.
He is currently busy with wedding & quincenera parties but he still enjoys doing the occasional guest DJ spots at clubs and still gets calls from the dying Chico party scene. DJ X-Cell is all about the music that makes the crowd shake and groove, so he will never give up trying to get a spot anywhere he can to share his joy in mixxing. And just because his heart is in house don't think that's the only thing he can spin. He can put it all in the mix from all sorts of House to Hip-Hop to Freestyle to Old Skool to Reggeaton to Classic Rock to Spinnin' the traditional Spanish Hits at your cousin's Quince! He was currently mixxin' it up on the airwaves on radio station "KRYC 105.9 The Rhythm - Yuba City's Complete Party Station". He will occasionally stop by for a quick mix from time to time, so listen often. He has been so busy with his mobile services lately he hasn't had time to get into the station to play the Yuba City area his Party Mixes. You can still catch him in the mix in various clubs & bars doing his "Guest Spots". DJ X-Cell has been inspired by big name DJs like Richard Humpty Vission, DJ Juanito, Armand Van Helden, Bad Boy Bill, David Garcia, Irene, etc.
Also not to mention the local pros like Eddie Edul (Power 105.5), Jus' James (Power 105.5), DJ Dre (Power 105.5 Sac.Wild 101.5 Las Vegas), Ernan (KSFM 102.5 Sac. Las Vegas), Pete Rios(Power 105.5), DJ Ramon Martinez(Chico/Colusa), Greg Lopez(WILD 94.9), Jose Melendez(WILD 94.9), Jazzy Jim(WILD 94.9), etc.
He has also helped start out DJ's like; DJ Savage (Chico), DJ CUZ-N Louie (Power 105.5), DJ Groove (Colusa), DJ CUE (Gridley), DJ Louie (Gridley) & DJ Dizzy (Chico). Watch out for these guys, as they will be doing big things in the future!
